The Best Homemade Granola

We often hear that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but does that mean it’s always the most exiting? Absolutely not. Are you tired of the same old boring breakfast? Look no further – try this delicious homemade granola!

A healthy, happy mind can contribute to good health, which is something most of us are trying to maintain. A well balanced and nutritious diet is always a good start. Homemade granola can be a healthy, comforting and delicious treat, plus you can use it in various ways. The store bought granola is often high in sugar and more expensive, so why not make it yourself? Here’s what you need to fill a large container (I use this one)

Ingredients

1 big bag of rolled oats (1 kg) – 3 dl sunflower seeds – 3 dl walnuts – 3 dl almonds – a small handful of chia seeds – 3 tbs honey – 1 dl cooking oil –  a drizzle of sea salt

Ps; you can also add any other favorite ingredients, such as dried fruit, flaked coconut, chocolate chips, brown/golden raisins, goji berries.. the options are many!

Directions

Preheat oven to 160 g/320 F. Chop the nuts and mix together in a large mixing bowl and elt honey and cooking oil in a small pan. Add the mixture of honey + oil, and blend together. Lay the granola onto two baking trays and spread evenly. Bake for 1 hour, but pay attention to the color of the granola, as the time might depend on what oven you have. It’s suppose to have a light brownish color (e.g. look at the picture above). Cool before serving and/or storing.

And voila; your granola is ready to enjoy!
