Before starting this blog, it was important for me to carefully consider why. There is no doubt that blogging is a popular activity (and a job to many people), but I think it’s important to reflect on why you want to get into blogging, especially if you want to get somewhere. Blogging is fun, you get to be creative, do research and take lots of pictures, but it can also be time-consuming and stressful in many ways. That being said, I truly enjoy writing this blog and my goal is to update it more frequently! 🙂
I primarily started this blog because I want to be an inspiration to others; I want to inspire people to create their own Bucketlist and use it as a drive to do all the fun things you always wanted to do, primarily because it worked so well for me. I want to inspire others to follow their dreams, whether it’s to travel the world, try out a new recipe in the kitchen, study abroad in another country, learn a new language or maybe making a shift in your career .. The options are many and it’s all possible!
If you need some extra inspiration to get started, here’s my personal top 5 tips;
Have a vision/dream
Who are you and what do you want? This is the first question you need to ask yourself. And when you do, write it down on a piece of paper. Writing things down is one of the top productivity advice I can give you. It’s very effective and overlooked by a lot of people, but it can make your life easier because you become more organized and can boost your productivity a lot (at least for me). In fact, research does state that vividly describing your goals in written form is strongly associated with goal success. You can also create your own Bucketlist or make a vision board, do whatever works for you. Be creative, dream big, and work hard, and results will appear.
Believe in your vision/dream
Have people ever managed to wake a sense of guilt or doubt in you, just because you defended you values, big dreams, and attitudes? Just because they didn’t share your values or agreed with your choice? Unfortunately, that has happened to most people.
In addition to have a vision/dream, it equally important to believe in yourself to make your dreams come true. If people tell you “you can’t do this”, do you believe them? The minute you start lacking confidence in yourself, you will most likely not get anywhere. Shake it off you, because you know what? There are always people that will disagree with you or not believe in you, but that’s ok, it’s not their dream, it’s yours!
Plan how to carry it out and prepare to make sacrifices
How do you plan on carrying out your dream and do you have what it takes?
A good example is to make sure your visions/dreams are SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time). Smart goals gives you clarity and a deadline for achieving them. Another important thing to consider is sacrifice; do you have to sacrifice anything to accomplish you dream, and what are you willing to sacrifice? Depending on your vision/dream, possible sacrifices may include (fully or to a certain extent) guaranteed monthly income, a social life, quality time with your family, and your freedom – these are all important things to keep in mind.
For more inspiration, I also recommend checking out Keenan Benjamin – a professional and personal life coach, motivational speaker, writer, and sports enthusiast. He left a successful career in financial services consulting and moved to India to launch Conscious Motivation, so he could dedicate himself full-time to helping clients live the life they dream for themselves. He truly is an inspiration!
Upgrade your mindset and energy to match your dream
Determination and procrastination are important key words here. Once you a have determined to go after your vision/dream, don’t procrastinate and don’t make excuses.
A great tip to avoid loosing your drive is to write down a long-term goal, and then divide them into smaller step-by-step goals. For example, if you have a deadline on a Friday, spread the smaller goals out over each day – that automatically makes your goals more attainable.
Constantly evolve and learn new things
I consider myself to be an inquisitive person; I’m intellectually curious, I have a great interest in learning new things, I love doing research, and I ask questions to figure things out. While that description doesn’t fit everyone, it’s definitely a helpful trait that will benefit you in the chase of accomplish you vision/dream. Great ways to evolve as a person is to study topics you find interesting, read books, talk to people in the chosen field, or maybe attend interesting workshops and seminars. The options are many!
What is your biggest vision/dream? Or perhaps you already accomplish it? Feel free to share and inspire others! 🙂
