Travel dreaming..

Is anyone else having travel dreams? Not just daydreams, but actual dreams..? 🌍✈️
There’s really is something to the saying “you don’t know what you have until it’s gone” and it’s especially true when it comes to traveling in light of the pandemic. Traveling has always been a great passion of mine and there not much I love more than to plan our next upcoming adventure! To me, the planning process is just as big of a part as the actual travel. In addition to social distancing, wearing a mask and keep your hands clean, travel restrictions was one of the first efforts implemented to fight the virus. It may seem (and is!) such a small problem compared to many other things, but when I realized our girls-trip to Krakow were cancelled and we couldn’t plan any vacation for the summer, I realized just how much traveling means to me. It’s more than just a trip somewhere; it’s a journey where you get to see new places, and indulge in delicious local food & beer, meet new amazing people – it’s a much needed get-away. A break from everyday life, an escape from work, stress and responsibilities. An opportunity to breath, reboot, and return home filled with energy and drive. I don’t know about you, but traveling is an absolute necessity in my life! πŸ™‚

While I don’t see us traveling in the near future, it’s time to look ahead to the future. To get exited about traveling, because we will be able to travel at some point. And when the world opens up again, this is where I want to go;

Netherlands
I can’t wait to click the “book” button on KLM’s website and book a ticket to Amsterdam and see all of my friends again! Even after moving back to Norway, I took frequent trips to the Netherlands to visit friends I missed a lot. I want to pay Leiden a visit (where I lived) as well as friends in Amsterdam and the Hague. I can’t wait to stroll along the canals, visit markets, enjoy delicious iced coffees & lunch in the sun, do some shopping, and spend quality time with my friends again. Miss you guys so much!

Greece
What’s not to love about Greece? This country is filled with the most warm and friendliest people I have meet, the best iced coffee (frape) in the world, amazing food and local beer, sunny weather and hot temperatures, boat trips, and lot’s of great restaurants, bars and local shops. I have been to many places in Greece and my favorite island group is the Cyclades; it’s less touristy and you get the real Greek authentic feel. My favorite Islands are Paros and Naxos, two places I would love for my husband to discover someday. Greece is without a doubt one of our favorite countries for a summer holiday and we can’t wait to explore some new places again!

Skopje, Macedonia
I first visited Skopje in 2017 with my sister and fell absolutely in love with the city!
It’s such a unique city unlike any other European city I have visited; it provides a mix of the old and the new, amazing food and local beer (if you enjoy a good steak, Macedonia is your country!), the friendliest people, and good shopping. The Old Bazaar is the heart and soul of Skopje and it’s such a cool place. Walking through the bazaar, you’ll end up at a big market where you can buy anything from food to clothes, shoes, ice cream, bags, interior items and much more. I want to bring my husband back to this amazing city! ❀

5 week trip to Thailand, Vietnam, Australia and Sri Lanka
This trip is high up on my wish list and something I’m really exited about! It’s a trip that require both extensive planning and savings, but nothing is impossible. This trip is only in my thoughts for now, but you know what they say; realization of plans starts with dreaming and planning! πŸ™‚ As for the trip, I’m thinking two weeks in Thailand, one week in Vietnam, one week in Australia and ending the trip with two weeks in Sri Lanka. Because of the short timeline in Australia and Vietnam, we’re choosing one city in each country; Sydney in Australia and Hanoi in Vietnam. In Sri Lanka, I’m envisioning relaxing days at the beach, laying in a hammock with a delicious drink or catch a wave trying to surf for the first time. Our travel itinerary includes discovering local markets, take a cooking class with a local family (apparently lot’s of local families have them at home!), take the “worlds most beautiful rain ride” from Ella – Kandy, soak up some local history, visit the tea plantations, see some temples, climb Lion’s Rock (Sigiriya), visit a national park (I want to see elephants so bad!), and experience hectic Colombo!

Do you have any travel plans/dreams post-pandemic? And have you ever visited any of the countries/places I mentioned above? Please share below! πŸ™‚

  1. All of your travels sound like so much fun! I didn’t travel much before the pandemic, but now I’m wishing I would have taken advantage of traveling more. I don’t know where I’m going after all this is over but I’m getting away! Lol

    1. Thanks Michelle! 😊 I truly enjoy traveling and there are so many amazing places I would love to visit! But one thing I’ve learned is that is doesn’t have to be far away. When I lived in the U.S., a small get-away weekend trip to Canada or Minneapolis could be enough. Enjoy everything your country has to offer, I bet there are lots of exiting places close to where you live! πŸ˜€
